The all-new best practice is dehumidified cooling for dogs and small animals in transit. Dog trailers and vans are not the same thing, vans can be stuffy, with many poorly insulated and with little if any ventilation. Dash-mounted van air conditioners are not intended for cooling animals in transit and offer little benefit to the animals in the rear cargo space. Animals can transfer sickness and odour through air droplets in poorly ventilated spaces between both animals and their handlers. Ventilated and insulated dog trailers provide a free supply of oxygen at all times. Dog trailers have an inbuilt bio barrier (tow bar) between handlers and animals with external doors to all dog bays, this is particularly important when transporting sick animals.
